Stop Child Labour!!

In a big city in Maharashtra where for the people “Time is money” and where there was child labour going on in the time period. This story takes place in the rural areas of Mumbai, there lived a boy Papu with his father Ramdas. Papu was 12 yrs. old and he was interested in studying, Papu’s father wanted to put Papu in a school but he could not afford money to send him to school. His father worked in cracker factory, the manager of the factory was very cruel, Chatur Seth and hence was paid less money and whenever there was necessity of money he had to borrow money from him and return money with interest. The manager of the factory was so cruel that he treated Ramdas badly as he was paid less for the work in the factory and also treated him as slave. He made all the workers work in the cracker factory without precautions, but Papu’s father still kept on bearing and kept on working in the factory. This was tough time for Papu’s father and he was helpless.

 

Days started passing on but Papu’s father was still kept on working and was still paid less. After some days Papu’s father fell sick and got lung cancer due to working in the cracker factory without safety precaution. One day when Papu’s father was going to the factory suddenly he had difficulty in breathing, these were the last breathes of Papu’s father, when People saw Papu’s father lying on the road, the people around immediately rushed to hospital, but soon on the way to hospital he was died, now there was no one to take care of Papu’s as his father was died and also he had lost his mother in an accident. Now it was difficult for Papu to survive in this condition as he did not have money. Thinking about the death of father, in his mind an idea clicked of asking Chatur Seth for the remaining salary.

The next day he went to the cracker factory with lot of hopes from Chatur Seth that he would give the remaining salary of his father. Papu goes to the cracker factory and asks Chatur Seth for his father’s remaining salary and funds, but Chatur Seth refused to give money and instead asked him to work in the cracker factory to recover his father’s debts borrowed. Now this was a high time for Papu and was helpless. He thought for a while thinking about how he could survive without money. Thinking this Papu took a decision to work in the factory, and started working in the factory. He did not like working in the cracker factory, as the manager of the factory Chatur Seth was cruel and did not care about the children working in the factory, but Papu was helpless and he had to pay debts taken from Chatur Seth from his father. Soon many other children also started working in the factory; they were also victims of Chatur Seth. 

Days kept passing on and on and Papu was still working on but he could manage everything in the factory.  One day Baturam a cracker purchaser visited the cracker factory to purchase crackers; Baturam often visited the factory to buy crackers. When he saw Papu in in very bad condition he was moved to pitty, this created a pitty feeling in Baturam’s mind. He was watching everything silently in the factory. Days passed but still kept on working in the cracker factory. Once a major accident occurred in the factory, a minor spot happened in the factory due to the chemical in a cracker which was been filled too much. Many children working in the factory were injured and Papu was one of them. The children in the factory were injured in a very bad condition. When this news came to Baturam; about the accident occurred in the factory, he immediately rushes to the factory. Baturam immediately rushes the factory with polices. Baturam sees the condition of the children who were injured and feels pitty. Chatur Seth the manager of the factory now was in a big danger, and could not do anything; Chatur Seth tries to escape from the cracker factory but gets caught red handed. Meanwhile Baturam takes the children injured to the hospital many children were in the death of belt. As first as Chatur Seth was caught red handed, he gets the third degree treatment by the police, hey was hit by police in very bad condition, by default he had to narrate the whole story, so he narrates the whole story, telling about keeping children to work in the factory. He feels sad about his mistake and he feel sorry about his mistake. As Chatur Seth had done a crime of keeping children in work, and as this was a crime of child labour, he was being charged to pay for their education, for the children who were working in the factory and also had to go to prison for almost 5 yrs. By this he realizes his mistake but had to accept it.

 Days passed Papu was sent to orphanage and was put in school to study as he was interested in it. Few days later Papu gets adopted by Baturam, Baturam then takes care of Papu for the rest all life, now it was like Independence for Papu, after someday Papu was put in a good school where he was happy. It was Baturam who is the guide for Papu.

 

“Right to Education’ is the birth right and we should have it in any condition”.
